Hello Steemers,
Hope everyone is well today.
My last update post may have gone out a little early or might have been perfect timing (since I've not had chance up until now to write another). About a hour or two later a parcel arrived and the contents turned out to be something awesome.
It was the 3.5" LCD touchscreen that I ordered, I was so happy.
It came in the box above, with a pen, some mount screws I don't think I can use, cd with drivers, and the cool, awesome touchscreen display. I'd thought I'd order a hdmi screen but after looking online it turns out thats on the larger screens.
I do have some minor issues that I need to overcome before I can get it all up and running which is slighty frustrating as I wanted to have the screen plugged in and working by now.
Here it is next to my pi zero
The screen will have to be setup and plugged into the GPIO socket, which you can see the raspberry pi zero doesn't come with pins installed. Which means I've had to figure some options for how I'm going to get arround that, a bunch of saldering will be required.
Another main issue to get past is no ethernet and one usb socket, so as it is I can plug a mouse in, or a keyboard, or a wifi adapter but only one at once. This is actually a major issue because I'm going to need wifi while setting up the screen and to set that up I need the wifi adapter plugged in while at least a keyboard aswell. I got a small usb extention cable and chopped the male end off so I have the part I all I need to do now is set it up and solder it into the GPIO (sounds easy enough, but it wont be).
To summaries, I've got the core parts, I'mready to get them all working together but I can jsut get straight into it, I need to add an extra usb. I currently can't get and my sholdering iron or any of my solder, but before I even get that far I need to research the GPIO and plan out how many pins I'm going to use. When I do I'll then plan out the pins for the, screen, usb, audio and hdmi, worst case is I unsolder the minihdmi and extend that. Finally the next thing for my to order is a second battery pack which I've almost managed to save enough steem for so soon I'll have that ordered and will begin the destruction and reconsturction of the battery for the project.
I'm supporting ironARM partly with my earnings from steemit.
Until next time
Nath
PS. I've not forgotten the drawing I need to finish off, I've been a bit pre occupied with project ironARM and finding a full time job. I'll get round to some soon and I'll post anything up straight away.
