Bitstamp exchange celebrates five-year anniversary


Popular cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp has marked the 5 anniversary of the Foundation. For this event, the exchange was timed contest with prizes.
"Starting 22 August 2011 in the garage with a dream, today, our offices in Luxembourg, London and new York serving clients worldwide. Not everything went smoothly, but to one million transactions already in 2012, having processed the applications for $12.8 billion and received this year a license, we can say that it was not in vain," — said in a statement, Bitstamp.
In honor of the anniversary, Bitstamp announced a contest, offering a prize of hardware wallets – 10 copies of Ledger Nano Ses and 100 copies of the Ledger Nano. To participate in the contest users need to answer a few questions of the quiz, the winners will be announced September 5.
Exchange Bitstamp was founded in 2011 in Slovenia and is one of the largest bitcoin startups in Europe, offering cryptocurrency trading and purchasing of physical gold. In March 2014 the exchange obtained a $10 million investment from Pantera Capital.
1 July 2016 Bitstamp has launched a regulated and licensed services in all 28 countries of the European Union, signed an agreement with the government of Luxembourg. This made her the first European cryptocurrency exchange operating in full compliance with the requirements of regulators.
