I am pretty happy with the response so far with the #solidaritywithkarim initial post. We had several people show up and offer their pictures to say they too, are appalled by the mess Syria is in. It doesn't really get talked about, like most 'third-world' countries. I think we're all part of the same world personally, and that's why I am doing this push to do SOMETHING, anything we can, to help whoever we can over there.

If that picture up there is somewhat disturbing to you, good! It means you have compassion and recognize an innocent misfortune. The little boy's name is Karim. He lives in Syria. The reason his eye is GONE is because of the warzone he was so wrongly born into which also took the life of his own mother. A boy, or any child for that matter, should not have to grow up without a mom. It's just...heartbreaking. At this time, I would like to share some photos of people standing with us here on Steemit:

If this feels wrong to you, if it makes those little heart strings tug on the tear ducts and you have to take a deep breath and look away, or if you just want to show you care, I have a request. Take a picture of yourself covering one of your eyes like we have. Drop it in the comments down there at the bottom of this post. Show your support and say you think it needs a resolution. There is a serious problem in this world and the small battles we can win will bring us that much closer to a global peace.

It is no secret that #thealliance supports @youarehope. @sircork has been gracious enough to give me a channel on their discord server to further coordinate my efforts in finding an avenue to assist not only little Karim, but any families torn from the constant strife that the media just sugar coats and tosses aside. There has to be someone over there, just has to, that is willing to do what people like @malos10 and @nichi are doing with the help of this fabulous platform for us in Syria.
