Saturday Evening Sonnet - In The Shadows

In The Shadows

Inspired by ally @brumest

In the shadows behind the veil

Deep in the oceans under the sails

Lies the listless lumbering Jack

A codfish prankster swinging his axe

relax relax he's no huntsman

less you be a witch, or magical something

he seeks the coveted energized sprouts

not yet seen the sun in darkness' pouch

pouncing trouncing swinging and chopping

wiggling giggling singing and stomping

eerie and spooky he stays out of sight

comforted by the sounds in the night

so it is told and so the story goes

Jack remains by choice in the shadows.
