Ronda (Spanish Ronda) is a city and a municipality in Spain, part of the province of Malaga, as part of the autonomous community of Andalusia. The municipality is located in the area (komarki) of Serrania de Ronda. It covers an area of 481 km. The population is 36698 people (for 2012). The distance to Malaga, the administrative center of the province, is 113 km. The city is located at an altitude of 723 m above sea level in the mountains 50 km north of Marbella and the Costa del Sol.
Moving along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, enjoying the views of southern Spain, I was in a relaxed state, despite the fact that I was behind the wheel.
A good, smooth, toll road ... All in bright markings ... It's a pleasure to go ...
My navigator puts the task before me - the city of Ronda! I'm checking with the map. Everything is clear ... A little more directly and to the right. And there, not far away and to Ronda. But it was not there!
Turning to the right, I found myself on a small mountain path called a serpentine! The speed dropped to 40 kilometers per hour. The steering wheel had to spin quite energetically, so that passengers began to rock back behind ... Just now I got used to such a ride, when suddenly the engine crashed and past me, almost touching the knee of the road, a motorcyclist rushed past. I, stunned, followed him with a glance at the turn, and, startled, because several other members of the suicide club flashed by. And gone, went ... All the way to Ronda, these crazy people then overtook me, then rushed to the meeting ... Of course, it's beautiful! Helmets, motorcycles ... All like in the movies! But it's scary ... There is such a precipice nearby that you can not assemble bones if you make a mistake ...
But, before my eyes, there were no tragedies ...
While I was trudging along with the micro-speed through the serpentine, the sun was rolling towards the sunset. We drove into Ronda late in the evening. They did not take into account, so to speak, the difficulties of the route. The map was close, but really - long, as if far away.
But our suffering was rewarded!
Ronda is just a pearl! It is necessary to come here, as it is a very beautiful ancient city!
At first it was necessary to have something to eat! We went to a restaurant that hangs on the balconies right above the precipice. Charming! And the abyss is the El Tajo gorge. The depth is 100 meters.
In general, Ronda is located on two rocks, two plateaus. And they are connected by an ancient stone bridge, the length of which is 98 meters.
Ronda is the birthplace of bullfighting. This alone is worthy of worshiping the city.
We went for a walk around the city. Very beautiful, like a toy ...
Well, of course, mandatory photos of local police officers.
The sun disappeared behind the mountains and it became dark. But what could be better than a warm Spanish night, after a hot day.
Walking along the night streets, lit by flashlights, we suddenly heard the singing .. Some noise ...
We went to the sounds and went out to the cathedral, near which the townspeople gathered. There was a holiday. A statue of the Blessed Virgin was taken out of the cathedral. This, I tell you, is a sight! Everything was soaked with incense! To the music, from the gates of the temple appeared, a feeling, a self-propelled device in the form of a pedestal and the figure of the Virgin Mary on this pedestal. The figure stood in the center of the pedestal and was decorated with flowers and candles. All this building moved by itself. Looking closer, I realized that it is carried by people who are under the pedestal. The base was made of a wooden frame and covered from above with cloth.
Very funny! The structure rose from the ground .. From below, it was slightly visible the feet of people under the pedestal. They did a few steps and again put the construction on the ground.
People greeted the procession with smiles and universal joy. It was difficult for us to perceive all this new culture for us, but it was very interesting to watch!
Here I am writing, remembering and very much want to visit it again. Probably, it is worth considering a trip to Spain. I, have not yet been to Toledo and Madrid. Why not?
