The magic of medieval Italy

Italian stories

This was my first trip to Italy. In those days, there were no satellite navigators and it was necessary to navigate the map. I was a navigator in our team.
At that time, I almost did not have any money and on the trip we saved everything. Even sometimes we spent the night in the car. Naturally, we avoided toll roads and move very slowly, sometimes getting lost in space.
At some point, I lost my orientation on the terrain. I looked at the map and could not understand where I was.Suddenly we saw a fortress on a hill. It was so great that we decided to stop by and see. It turned out that this is a small town of Volterra.

Volterra is a walled mountaintop town in the Tuscany region of Italy of which its history dates to before the 7th century BC and has substantial structures from the Etruscan, Roman, and Medieval periods.

It was a great success that we accidentally stumbled upon this amazing place.
I felt the real spirit of the Middle Ages in this place. The place itself is very beautiful. The city is located on a cliff. Near the green valley. In the town there are a lot of cozy cafes and restaurants. In addition, there are wine cellars.
We went down to one of these cellars and spent several hours there participating in wine tasting.

Evening Volterra seemed even more amazing.
In short, I advise everyone to visit this place.
