Travel Tip: Kutná Hora – picturesque Czech town that once rivaled Prague´s dominance

Hi Steemians,

let me share another cool Czech travel tip with you. After introducing you to the Máj Lookout yesterday, I would like to show you another interesting place that you are highly recommended to put on your Czech travel bucket list.

Found some 50 km (30 mi) east of Prague, Kutná Hora is home to just about 20,000 people but this beautiful historical town has a lot to offer. A former silver-mining hub of the Czech Republic, the town once even competed against Prague to be the economical, cultural and political center of the country.

These days, Kutná Hora is a popular tourist destination for both domestic as well as foreign visitors. Boasting numerous architectural jewels such as the Church of St. Barbara (one of the most important Gothic churches in Europe) and the Church of Our Lady, the town was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995.

Kutná Hora is worth your visit in any season of the year and its proximity to Prague makes it a great day-trip destination from the country´s capital.
