Travel with me. Russia. Great temples of St. Petersburg

Hi my dear Steemit friends! Glad to greet you on your blog!

Travel with me through great Russia. I'm in the city of Peter.

Saint Isaac's Cathedral

The interior of the St. Isaac's Cathedral impresses with its splendor. It is not for nothing that this cathedral is unofficially called the Museum of Colored Stone. Floors and walls are decorated with marble slabs of different types from Italian, French, Russian masters. On the walls of the temple inside you can see the decor of white marble, and the decoration is a panel, combined from green and yellow marble, porphyry and jasper. If you are in doubt, then watch the video and photo in the article. Right under the church dome a silver dove is fixed on a steel rope - a symbol of the spirit. The parishioners have the impression that the bird is hovering in the air. The inner part of the large church dome is decorated with paintings depicting Our Lady.

St. Isaac's Cathedral is the largest Orthodox church in St. Petersburg. The temple has the status of a museum. Remarkably the interior of the cathedral, which presents all kinds of monumental and decorative art - painting, sculpture, mosaic, colored facing stone. The main iconostasis of the cathedral is decorated with malachite and lapis lazuli columns, in the main altar there is an unconventional stained-glass window "Risen Christ" for the decoration of the Orthodox church.

Museum-monument "St. Isaac's Cathedral" - one of the most significant art museums in Russia, is famous in many foreign countries.

In the decoration of the interior, numerous paintings, mosaics, sculptures, an effective combination of colored stones and gilding create a rich color palette

Inside St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg you can see many paintings and mosaic images created by famous artists

The official name is the Cathedral of St. Isaac of Dalmatia, today the largest Orthodox church in St. Petersburg, was built in 1818-1858 according to the project of the French architect Auguste Montferrand.

Church services and music concerts are held in the cathedral.

St. Isaac's Cathedral in the modern version is a five-domed structure. The largest of its dome is composed of three parts - the outer, middle and lower. It was during the construction of this temple that such cumbersome columns were raised for the first time in all construction practice to a height of 40 m. How it all looks can be seen on the picture about the photo in the article. The gilding on the domes of the temple is made of red gold, and this material is worth about 100 kg to decorate all five domes. The dome structures themselves are made of metal, and the crown of the large dome is the golden Greek cross.

The column I was climbing to take pictures from a height. Very high. There was wind and rain.

St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg is not only a beautiful interior decoration, but also an opportunity to see in all its glory the panorama of the city, rising to the highest colonnade of the cathedral. This temple belongs to the number of masterpieces of world architecture and is considered a symbol of St. Petersburg. St. Isaac's Cathedral is located on St. Isaac's Square in the northern Russian capital.

The photo above is the colonnade

St. Isaac's Cathedral is one of the largest and most beautiful cathedrals in the world. There really is something to see.

Kazan Cathedral

The appearance of the temple somewhat resembles the Vatican's Cathedral of St. Peter. The uniqueness of the cathedral is the colonnade and the only dome of the cathedral, which is uncharacteristic of the Russian temple architecture of the Moscow period. The main shrine of the cathedral - the miraculous icon of the Kazan Mother of God was moved from the church-predecessor.

The cathedral has a cross-dome shape. In both directions the colonnades spread out. The exterior walls of the cathedral, columns, bas-reliefs are made of pudost stone, wiped with Riga alabaster and covered with grayish-yellow paint on the outside. In the interior decoration, marble, porphyry, jasper and Finnish granite are used.

On the image I'm near the columns of the temple.
