Day two of our Californian road trip, and we awake and immediately feel the energy draining effects of jetlag. Now, this is nothing new to us, and it wouldn't thwart our optimism for the day ahead.
Then we walk out the door and see the weather is just as dreary as the day before (as told in part 1 - @danedebeau/mismatched-travel-diaries-1-big-sur-a-coastal-drive-part-1-l-a-to-cambria).
First stop, Seals! Like dogs you cannot pat, or cuddle, but desperately want to. They look like they would enjoy some pats, but knowing we could be crushed, or fined, or both, we stick to the boardwalks and watch them sleep in piles of fat and blubber...
...or duel in the shallows over disinterested females...
...or sleep,
or argue,
or try and wriggle your way back into that comfy spot you just had taken from you.
Every now and then, you get to see a sign which sums up the human experience, without meaning to at all.
And sometimes you have a rather humbling size comparison.
We soak in the sleepy fog which shrouds the equally sleepy seals for a few hours. But with any road trip, the current location is but a blip on the journey, and as much as we enjoyed watching the water-dogs lie around all day... we could not partake in such a luxury.
The journey must be continued!
Thanks for reading.
Part 3 - the continuation of our North American road trip will be up tomorrow!
