This is my first time to Japan for travel. I chose Peach Aviation which is a low-cost airline from Japan. For travel, I like to plan all the itinerary by myself such as air flight, hotel, local transportation, and interesting places. It feels great when I do it successfully. Let’s start my journey.
This was our air plane. It was nice weather here in Osaka.
This is a Disembarkation Card for Foreigner. Usually it will be distributed on the airplane, and it also can be found before custom desk. Finish it before you pass the custom and be sure to fill in the last row “intended address in Japan”. I saw that one girl in the front of me had some troubles due to inappropriate content in this item. I filled in the hotel name I would stay in and passed the custom without any difficulty.
It was getting dark when we left the airport. We took a train to Osaka Station. It is very clean on the train in Japan.
It was already 8:00 pm when we got off the train. After we left Osaka Station, we had our first dinner in a Japanese noodle restaurant. It was delicious, probably because we were hungry. Later I found most of Japanese restaurant provide iced water for meals. The iced water is not only cold water. It is the water with ice blocks.
On the way to the hotel, there was an art show. Artist put the candle into a small glass bottle and presented them in various patterns.
Next day in the morning, we walked around the area near the hotel.
This is our hotel. It is very nice. There is a public large bath on the 16th floor. They call it spa and only for guests from the hotel. It is very clean and comfortable there. However no photos can be taken.
There is the National Museum of Art, Osaka. This is an iconic modern architecture.
Then we went to Namba, one of major commercial areas in Osaka.
There is a very famous garden on the top of the building. The whole organisation and style is very beautiful.
It was lunch time! We tried a Japanese restaurant in the shopping mall of Namba.
We ordered two sets as in the pictures. The following were the real food.
It looked same. In Japan usually the money you spend is worthy of the goods or services you receive. There is nearly no cheating behaviours. If something is expensive, there shall be some reasons for it. The services and the goods shall be at the related price level. And in Japan bargaining is not welcome since people will believe you think their goods or service are not good.
After lunch we went to Dotonbori and took a boat tour. The Tourist Guide was very good and passionate. Unfortunately I didn't take any photo for this part.
In the underground commercial street we found the cookie buffet promotion on 9, 19 and 29 every month.
Finally we went to Kuromom Market, a very famous fish market in Osaka.
Then came to the last part and also the most looking forward to part of the day, dinner at Rokukaku-Tei.
Rokukaku-Tei offers kushikatsu or Japanese deep-fried skewers of meat, seafood and vegetables, and the flagship store at Kuromom Market Osaka received one Michelin star in 2009, and every year after that. “Rokukaku” means six senses: the five human senses and the sense of creating. Tei means torch, a word chosen by Chef Hideyuki Tanaka’s master in hopes that many people will gather around and be drawn to this torch. There is no menu in Rokukaku-Tei. Everyone has same 20 skewers. When you make a reservation, an attendant will ask if you have any allergic food. (Later I found all the restaurants which could make a reservation would ask the same question.) If you are full when you have less than 20 skewers, you can stop at any time and the other skewers will not be charged. It is fair.
These were sauces and flavors of powders: lemon with mustard, soy sauce, sesame sauce, red wine sauce, salt-and-pepper and powdered salt. The bread was to absorb excess oil.
And there was a bowl of vegetables to fresh the rich deep-fried oil if necessary.
The Chef will point the skewer to the suggested sauce or powder. If the Chef point the skewer to the middle of two, then either will be OK. If the Chef point the skewer to nothing, which means no sauces or powders are needed.
There was some home-made bread, very delicious. Before they served bread, they would ask if I was full. Of course not, I came here from so far away, and I needed to have a full set. Rokukaku-Tei also has hundreds of good wines from his boss's collection. However I ordered the draft beer which was very good.
In the last day in Osaka, we walked around in the shopping mall area near Osaka Station.
This is the Osaka Station.
There is a very beautiful water stairs outside the shopping mall.
There is a garden on the roof of the shopping mall.
It was lunch time. The bread tasted good with olive oil.
After lunch we went to Osaka Castle Park.
This is very famous Osaka Castle.
This was beautiful view from the top of Osaka Castle.
At night we went to our last place in Osaka: Ferris wheel. In daytime, there was not so many people here and the view was plain. So we came here again in the night. The night view was awesome. Unfortunately I could not take good photos using my cell phone.
