Art in the Park - Dublin City

St Stephens Green

This park, in the heart the Irish Capital, is a beautiful relaxed space where you can laze away the sunny summer days. It´s a wonderful escape from the city but this weekend it had something extra special.

Peoples Art

Each month during the summer there is an exhibition by local artists where you can see works for sale, of every type, style and medium. The next event this summer in St. Stephens Green is on 23 24 25 June 2017.

Once a month during the summer artists from all over Ireland set up and lay out their work on the railings outside the park. For a relaxed afternoon, on a glorious sunny day like yesterday, you can stroll around the park and chat with the artists, admire their work and maybe get a good deal or a unique memory from Ireland.

Some of what was on offer this weekend:

Other unusual mediums that caught my eye

  • Painted glass
  • Palette knife
  • Collages of Shells

The art on display was eclectic but mainly contemporary. Everything from abstract to images of Dublin, some mystical and unusual combinations with poetry and and stories.

If you're visiting Dublin and one of these exhibitions is on be sure to check it out. The webpage is

Merrion Square

If you miss the Stephens Green exhibitions there is an alternative exhibition that happens more regularly, every Sunday, in nearby Merrion Square where local artists exhibit. The style is the same as the Stephens green exhibit with artwork laid out along the railings of the park.
