The Happy Pear

Ireland is known for meat and potatoes. Being an Island nation you may expect fish to feature heavily in the diet but it is not as prominent as other Island nations such as Japan, or even countries from mainland Europe such as Spain.

Healthy Food

In recent years Organic, and Health food has taken off become a multi million Euro industry in Ireland and a way of life for many.

A vegetarian restaurant may not be your first choice for Sunday dinner but tucked away about a 25 minute drive south of the Irish Capital Dublin is a small town overlooking the Irish Sea, Greystones. The Happy Pear run by the twins Dave & Steve is a unique restaurant that embraces all that is good from the "health craze" and serves up mouthwatering dishes in a relaxed natural environment. Dishes that would appeal to anyone and leave even the most passionate carnivore feeling full and satisfied.

The restaurant has been recently extensively refurbished, there is now a large seating area to the rear.

Enjoy delicious food in a rustic surrounding. Many enjoy a lovely day out with the cliff walk from Bray to Greystones followed by lunch at the Happy Pear.

Dave & Steve are a force of nature, they can often be seen handing out samples of some of their new creations at the restaurant.

Truly Happy

The Happy Pear is not just about food, it's about a philosophy. Why not try a suspended coffee while your here?

or water from the Wicklow Mountains

Sweet Treats

Lets start with desert, this cafe specialises in foods for different dietary requirements; dairy free, sugar free, vegan. There is something for everyone and they are all delicious.

I wish I could have this for lunch every day.

You have a choice of Side Salads, I have no idea what is in these but each portion is finely balanced and tastes delicious.

Meat Free

Everything here is vegetarian. I have broadened my palette in recent years but I don't think I would ever go fully vegetarian or vegan. I like the occasional Steak too much.

Even the most passionate carnivore, that only eats blue steak, would question their food choices after a visit to the happy pear. It's hard to believe when you'r eating it here how good it is. Everything tastes so good!

Lasagne with Pumpkin, Feta and Broccoli

Dahl Lentils with a side salad of carrot, mixed seeds, quinoa
