Hello my beloved steemians
klk, que dices?
A Spanish expression when you meet someone or see him again after a long time. A combination of welcome and question in one. KLK = how are you (derivation of que lo que) and que dices = what do you say, what are you doing, what 's going on, etc.
In the sense klk what do I want to tell you about me today?
So let's start. Why I emigrated here to the Dominican Republic I will tell you another time. Today I'll just show you some of my (some very funny) pictures of how I live here in the Dominican Republic, where I live, where I go shopping, who my family is and that the Dominican Republic not only have "dream beaches".
Since the rents and houses on the island are relatively cheap and the state of the expansion is good, of course we bought a great property. Look...
Our dream castle with sea view
Sorry, i have to disappoint you. No castle, no villa, no sea view and not even a small palm tree. For that a simple, small urban family house, in which we live in the east of Santo Domingo.
4 rooms, a small porch and a parking space for a car. That's it!
Santo Domingo is the capital and also the multicultural center for everything here in the Dominican Republic. Of the approximately 5 million inhabitants, about 1/5 are living in Santo Domingo Este, making it one of the largest neighborhoods and by far the largest in terms of area. We are living in the district of San Isidro/ Oriental, which is known primarily for its air base (Base AΓ©rea de San Isidro) in the east. The international airport "Las Americas" is located in the immediate vicinity, about 20 minutes by car.

Our shopping temple
Actually, there are more about 45,000 pieces of these colmados distributed throughout the country. An indispensable place to take a coffee and having a smalltalk in the morning. There's always something going on.
The Colmado is grocery store, village pharmacy, small disco and meeting place for young and old.
and here my big family
and of course our dream beach
Again, I have to disappoint you a little bit. Santo Domingo does not offer really nice beaches. The coast is very rocky and always very windy. Only in a few places there are real sandy beaches. A big problem is also the waste, which flows here in some places simply unfiltered into the sea. In addition, the Dominicans do not really have the understanding of a clean environment. The packaging of food or an empty bottle of beer lying on the ground is completely normal and does not seem to bother anyone here. Pity.
For swimming, we often visit Boca Chica or Samana in the northeast of the country; in my view there are located the most beautiful beaches of the island. These are some impressions:
last but not least, our dream car
(my uncle's car)
Driving a car here in Santo Domingo is exciting, funny and unfortunately very dangerous. Therefore we do not own a car. There are traffic rules, but nobody really sticks to it. The driving test consists of 5 hours theory and practice and costs 5000 pesos (not 100 euros). Accordingly, the people drive very "well" here. About 90% of Dominicans are poor, you can imagine what most cars look like. partly more then over 30 years old, several hundred thousand kilometers on the counter and patched together.
We are using buses, metro or the popular "Taxi Publicos" and "Moto Gonchos". For 25 pesos (40 cents) you can drive around there for about 1 hour. And the great thing about it: you can get in and out wherever you want. Official stops are few - so just call the driver and he stops. Simply great.
