Welcome to My World - My Office for the Day!

Cape Town is RENOWNED for showing off when it comes to idyllic weather and today was one of those days! Although we celebrated “Spring Day” on the 1st of September, “Spring” actually only starts on the 24th of September – so by “showing off” I am referring to the 33 degrees Celsius that we all got to enjoy today.

We had a few things that we needed to get for my son’s school uniform and their uniform shop is in the centre of town which is about a 15 minute drive from where we stay, so we decided to pack up our laptops and go work “mobile” for the day – seeing as we were on that side of the world anyway.

Once the necessaries had been done, we headed off to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront to find a spot where we could work, relax and most importantly – EAT!

We took a leisurely stroll around to find a restaurant that offered limitless free wifi and also one which was conducive to working.

The V&A Waterfront is probably one of our most popular tourist destinations so it is always alive with vibrancy and activity.

There are buskers at every corner offering you their own personal little bit of African music and entertainment.

As you walk along the water’s edge and pass all the restaurants, you are always enthusiastically offered everything from yacht cruises, kiddies pirate ship boat rides, shark cage diving and helicopter rides… none of which were on the cards for today lol

This is “The Cape Wheel” which is essentially a large Ferris wheel which takes you approx. 40 metres off the ground and allows you to get a completely panoramic view of our amazing “Mother City”. The Black cubicle that you see on the bottom left is the VIP option where you get to enjoy all the views with sushi and champagne!

We eventually decided on a good old faithful establishment “Quay Four” but opted for the slightly more peaceful setting upstairs - as the downstairs section is more of a pub like vibe and can get quite rowdy, even in the day time.

After settling down at our table we ordered some drinks and started work on our merry way… hehe

Once the “critical” stuff had been dealt with, it was time to eat!

It would simply be a sin to visit the waterfront and not have seafood… so I opted for one of their most popular selections which was the “Quay Four Combo” – it was a mini platter consisting of a half portion of fresh hake, 3 prawns, 3 mussels, battered calamari and a side of your choice… which was a green salad for me…

It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!

It is wonderful to get out of the office sometimes and get productive in a fresh environment. It gives you an entirely different mood and approach to what you are focusing on… change is as good as a holiday they say – and I consider myself truly blessed to be able to have that option in terms of “office freedom”.

We wanted to take a walk around after having finished up work and lunch, but we had to get back as Jude had a soccer match against their “biggest rivals” – and they WON 6 – 0! Wooohooo!!!

It was a greatly FUN, PRODUCTIVE and SUCCESSFUL day all round!

Until next time...

Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx
