DIY PH Travel#11: Bask Under the Sun at Pandanon Island!

A panorama shot taken by my husband using a Samsung S5 mobile phone camera. How do you find it?

James, my husband and I just came from an out of town tour to the Southern Cebu. Going to south means seeing beaches and swimming in a clean, clear sea. Which is why my next travel blog would be about beach as well.

The out of town outing we just had this weekend was initiated by my husband's colleagues, I can't blog about that right now so I thought of blogging about something similar to it.

One of the many perks of being employed in a company is the travel budgets, James was part of a group which were given budget after winning a specific company competition and since it was summer, everyone agreed to spend it in a day tour at Pandanon Island.

Pandanon Island is a little island which is part of Jetafe, Bohol. If coming from Jetafe it would only take 30 minutes of boat travel but more than an hour if coming from Mactan, Cebu.

The island's white sands and green trees captivates the passengers on a JnN ship on its way to Ubay, Bohol. I personally had been seeing this island whenever I am on my way home from Cebu way back in college. On a sunny day, its water shimmers like silver dusts in the shore.

On their way to the island, the waters were just inviting that everyone was very eager to leap out of the boat and swim into the clear tortoise waters. There were residents on the island obviously but the island itself is very raw and there aren't much amenities, no restaurants or stores except for cottages, so if you are planning to stay for a day here, you gotta bring your drinks and lots of food with you.

These are the cottages for rent at the island.

White sand beach, clear crystal waters, blue skies with a little bit of cottony clouds, some ruins and a sandbar! All of this we got to experience. Plus the funny company of team mates and colleagues.

These are the boats which can take guests and tourists from Mactan to Pandanon.

When going to beaches like this, always remember to apply sunscreen or sunblock to protect your skin from the heat of the sun. Also always hydrate yourself as to prevent from heat stroke.

I thought of adding a gallery in here since I still have lots of shots of the island. See below.

Team buildings and group activities can be done here. Here are just some of these, the team had to create a raft using the materials provided. There's a jetski too!

How To Get There?

I did mention that this island is part of Bohol but there are more visitors coming from Cebu. Boats are rented on a daily basis. It is much cheaper if you come in groups as you can divide the fee.

From Cebu, you may go to Queensland Beach Resort, Punta Engano Mactan where the motorized boats dock. You can contact tour guides ahead of time so to make sure that there are indeed boats which can accommodate you on the day of the get away.

It would take an hour or so depending on the weather and sea conditions. Always make sure the weather is good before deciding to go out into the sea.

Fees:

Boat fee:

P10,900 – big boat rental
P8,700 – medium-sized boat rental

Entrance fee:

Php 150 per head

Cottages:

Their are cottages good for 10-20 people for P250.
Php 2000 worth of cottage is good for those who come with a big group.

Reminder: It is necessary that if you plan to go there, you must be prepared. Bring a lot of foods and drinks specially water to hydrate you and keep you full while in the island. The prices there might double compared to the SRP in the main city so just be prepared and make sure what you brought is more than enough for the entire group.
