Banks Peninsula - New Zealand
I just want to share some shots from our trip to Banks Peninsula. We arrived in Christchurch from Hongkong and actually haven't planned anything for the next day. Our host suggested to go to the Peninsula and go whale watching. Actually the weather wasn't supposed to be good so they canceled the whale watching trip. We talked to a lady at the tourist information and she recommended the "penguin tour". I was uncertain if a "penguin" day tour is the thing I wanted to do but it turned out great.
A lovely family is taking care of the little penguins. They mainly protect them from predators and raise new borns if needed. We saw a lot of the little blue ones and one yellow-eyed penguin.
With us was a professional photographer from the US, who was shooting like a machine gun with his pro body and lenses. Too bad I just had a 500D and a 70-300mm. But I think the images turned our alright š
The first image just won a contest by @czechglobalhosts and the second shot shows the Akaroa harbour. Followed by a penguin hut, a new born penguin and two images of the yellow-eyed penguin. Actually you are not allowed to come closer than a couple meters to the penguin because it's so rare and protected. We left the trail and walked around him š
