Hint: it's on this photo!
Is this view familiar to you?
After travelling the world and living in three countries I still can't say what's best for me... But the famous publisher The Economist knows!
The Economist Intelligence Unit has published its annual Liveability index, which is a ranking of the most (and the least) attractive cities to live in.
I've always found these rankings somehow artificial as there are many factors that can make our life comfortable or miserable that we cannot measure. Still this report is curious and has quite a lot of data involved!
They measure key indicators of the quality of life and benchmark the cities among those.
Here's how the process works:
"Every city is assigned a rating of relative comfort for over 30 qualitative and quantitative factors across ve broad categories: stability; healthcare; culture and environment; education; and infrastructure. Each factor in a city is rated as acceptable, tolerable, uncomfortable, undesirable or intolerable. For qualitative indicators, a rating is awarded based on the judgment of in-house analysts and in-city contributors. For quantitative indicators, a rating is calculated based on the relative performance of a number of external data points.
The scores are then compiled and weighted to provide a score of 1–100, where 1 is considered intolerable and 100 is considered ideal. The liveability rating is provided both as an overall score and as a score for each category. To provide points of reference, the score is also given for each category relative to New York and an overall position in the ranking of 140 cities is provided."

Ok, enough for the science - so what's the BEST city to live in 2016?
Apparently, as in the previous year, the ranking is led by Australia. Melbourne is the MOST ATTRACTIVE city to live in!
What do you think about it, Steemers? Anyone lucky here from Melbourne - tell us, how it feels?:)
What's curious in the rating is that in the top 10 we see 3 cities from Australia and 3 cities from Canada. Amazing how these countries succeed in making their citizens' lives comfortable and happy!
And what about the last 10?
Well, here are the cities the LEAST comfortable and attractive for people to live in:
It's a shame to see Kiev dropping to the end of the rating due to the political instability...
And here is another chart that I found interesting - the most significant ups&downs in the rating:

Have a great day in whatever city this post finds you!!
