Explore Hong Kong with me #6- 帶大家去科學館和吃香港街頭小吃🌞 The Science Museum and local street food in Hong Kong

Hello Steemit friends,

IMG_2734.JPG

Hope you are doing good today!🌞 Last time I shared a restaurant, THE BASE to you and I am glad many of you love that post. This weekend, my niece visited us for a few days. Therefore, my sister and I planed to take her to visit the Science Museum in Tsim Sha Tsui. Other than Ocean Park and Disneyland, this is probably my favourite place to spend my holiday when I were still young :P 70% of the exhibits allow the visitors to touch and learn through direct involvement. It's a perfect place for both children and adults to learn some knowledge about science. If you not interested in visiting the science museum, you can skip part 1 and go directly to part 2 of this post. I will introduce some local street food in the second part 😉

Let's begin our journey~ 😉

IMG_2806.JPG
It takes 10 minutes walk from Jordan Station Exit D. Or you can take Exit B2 at Tsim Sha Tsui.

After arriving, we saw a long queue outside the museum and we found out that was actually for an exhibition about Ancient Egypt. Lucky us, we asked the exhibition workers before we start lining up. If you just go for the normal exhibition, there's actually another queue inside the museum.

Eternal Life: Exploring Ancient Egypt features 200 cultural relics from the British Museum. It looks quite interesting~

Electricity and magnetism is the first section we went after entering. There are many interactive exhibits for visitors to learn how to generate electricity and revealing informative facts about electricity and magnetism.

IMG_2737.JPG
This is the exhibit explaining how things are electrolysed when current flows.

And checking out which material can conduct electricity and building up the circuit with conducting material.

A exhibit explains a short circuit.

IMG_2741.JPG
Many parents brought their children here. It's super crowded~~

IMG_2743.JPG
Then we went to section with many interesting mathematical problems.

IMG_2745.JPG
Obviously, the niece is not solving these difficult problems. lol she is just playing with them.

After that, we went to the second floor. The first thing we see it's the VC-3 airplane, which is the first Hong Kong airline, hanging from the ceiling and a Zheng He's Treasure ship in the middle of a pool. It's a section about transportation, there is another section regards of home technical and food science. But my niece seems have no interest in these. So we decided to move on and go to the third floor, the children's gallery.

IMG_2751.JPG
This section is specially designed for children with games learn about the processes of building a house. Some of the game need to cooperate with others in order to finish the task that's acquire social skills.I couldn't take many photos in this section as she ran around and I had to chase around her....I feel exhausted after chasing her for an hour and we decided to leave.

Local Street Food in Hong Kong 😋😋

IMG_2753.JPG
After the visit, we all feel hungry and decide to have some local street food. This is my favourite place to get fish balls and fish meat Shao Mai in Tsim Sha Tsui and it located opposite of the Science Museum.

IMG_2804.JPG
We are waiting for our food~~

IMG_2758.JPG
Other than delicious fish balls and Shao Mai, they have daily cooked soup for sale. This is snow pear and snow ear fungus soup.

IMG_2701.JPG
Fries and fried chicken wings~

Chilli fried fish ball. Their chilli sauce tastes very different from others with many dried shrimps and dried fish.

Other than fish ball and shao mai, Hong Kong style egg puff is another popular local street food in Hong Kong. Mammy Pancake is recommended in michelin guide in both 2016 and 2017. you can spotted this place by the big queue of people lined up waiting for their orders.

IMG_2943.JPG
Different flavours are provided for customers to choose. I ordered a sesame egg puff today~It's crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside.
