📷About grapes and wine

Today I will tell you about grapes. .. And about the history of winemaking.

Visiting Georgia this summer, I learned the story of winemaking.
So, what is this plant? 😊
Grapes are usually a plant that belongs to the genus Vitis of the family Vitaceae Juss or its fruits (berries).
Grapes are known since the birth of humanity..
Fruit picking is usually in August and September. Some varieties in early October. It depends on local climatic conditions.

Nowadays it is cultivated in many countries.

Previously it was believed that the wine industry went from Iran. However, archaeological excavations in Georgia proved that Georgia is the birthplace of wine. The history of viticulture here has an earlier history, that is, it is hundreds of years earlier.

Studies were conducted in the village of Shulaveri in Marneuli district.
Monuments-settlements of Gadachrilis-mountain, Šulaveris-mountain, Imiris-mountain were found on this place. All these hillforts as hills belong to the Neolithic period, that is, approximately dating back to 6000 BC. e. These settlements belong to the Shulaveri-Shomu culture.

About 500 grape varieties are grown in Georgia.
Wines that are prepared according to the traditional recipe are distinguished by the richness of taste and smell.

Native grape variety in Imereti (Georgia)

Imereti is located in Western Georgia, in its eastern part. This zone covers the basins of the rivers Kvirila and Rioni. The climate is characterized by moderate humidity.

This is one of the old wine-growing zones, with rich raw materials for growing and processing grapes.
Vineyards are planted in river valleys at an altitude of 200-800 m.

I visited a private plantation.( Imereti Georgia). We arrived by car with the sign Go Trip.

Tsitska- indigenous varieties of grapes in Imereti (Georgia) Tsitska a high-quality white grape variety. This white grapes is one of the most important technical varieties of western Georgia. It occupies almost half of the total area of vineyards in Imereti.Unfortunately, this grape variety is badly damaged by oidium, mildew.

Grapes are protected from infection.
This is Imeretia, in the zone of continuous contamination of vineyards by this pest. However, old root-own plantations with normal growth and fruit bearing yield good harvests.
