A quick gondola ride in Mamaia, a Romanian resort on the Black Sea shore

One of many attractions in the Mamaia resort is the Gondola ride (Telegondola).

The ride can offer tourists a aerial view of the Romanian Black Sea shore within the resort.

The ride does not last more than ten minutes but it is worth giving it a try. My son loved it!

The cost of a one way ride is 20 lei (close to $7USD).

The passengers can board from any of the two stations located in the Perla area and the Casino area.

The highest point reached during the ride is around 50 meters above the resort.

The total length of the ride is 2 kilometres which is neither short or long, just right for those like me who are acrophobics.

The maximum capacity of a gondola car is eight persons.

During the week it is not that crowded; we were alone in our gondola car. Though in the evening or during the weekends there are a lot of visitors.

The gondolas can carry between 600 to 1500 persons per hour. I guess we were lucky to have gone in a less crowded day.

You can imagine my son's excitement when we passed above the AquaMagic water park!

As you have seen in the photos above, the gondolas offer a great 360 degrees view of the resort, which is a 5 miles (8km) long strip of land which is not wider than 330yards (300 meters).

The strip separates the Black Sea from the Lake Siutghiol, which is a lagoon that stretches on 12.5 miles (20 km) and has a maximum depth of 59 feet (18 meters).

The working hours for the Gondolas are between 9:30am and 23:30pm.

I hope this post helped you consider Romania as a possible vacation destination.
