Just a two hours drive from Rio de Janeiro gets you to beautiful Paraty, a colorful colonial town located at the edge of the massive 'Sierra de Bocaina National Park'. This lush and mountainous terrain, where jaguars still roam free, is a true water playground. One of the most popular places is Cachoeira the Tobogã. This short video shows me sliding down this unlikely waterfall. It's a bit scary first, but I can assure you it's great fun :-)
If you want to go there, don't book an organized tour as it is expensive and crowded. Just take the bus from Paraty yourself and be the first to dare the slide. For detailed information go to my open source travel guide backtotheroutes.com.
