Cape Town Spotlight: Bon Courage Wine Estate..

A blast of champagne with some great vineyards and expert wine makers. Best explored with friends and family...

The Bon Courage Wine Estate has an interesting history. In 1920 the Dutch Reform Church aquired the land, pulled up all the vineyards, and closed the cellars. The started a school for farmers in the area that would like to grow a crop that was not considered "The Devils" fruit but the venture failed and in 1927 the property was put up for auction.

The farm was replanted with Steen and Muscadel grapes but it wasn't until 1985 that the farm was modernized and became 'Bon Courage".

On arriving we where met with the most amazing tasters of oysters and champagne and stayed for the live music they offer most weekends.

If you ever in the Robertson area I suggest picking up a bottle of Jacques Bruére Brut Reserve, the award winning sparkling wine from master wine maker of the estate. With bottles only released after a minimum of 36 – 48 months yeast contact they pop hard! And for under $10 a bottle a steal!
