[Blog #49] Revisiting Bratislava | Seeking Sunsets | Photography

Heeeyho Readers! Medieval vibes, Christmas markets and castles: Seeking the golden hour in Bratislava.

On the last post about Bratislava, in Slovakia, we wandered around narrow streets, discovered castles and learned to see the details through the windows. It was sure a great day, but I spared the juicy pictures for today's report. Not claiming that I'm a good photographer, if I can call myself one, but I think the pictures turned out pretty well.

You know, after days of cycling on the rain, seeing the sun above my head felt like a gift to be appreciated with care. Finding the perfect sunset spot required time and fast paced cycling, you cannot lose time, or else it's gone. I tried to find spots which represented what I liked the most about the city: Bridges, the Danube, the Castle and of course the Bicycle.

. . .

Bratislava - The Danube

I was impressed by the Danube river and its busy traffic of boats going up and down. It made me think of my own country and I couldn't help but think of my favourite writer Amyr Klink, one of the biggest critics of how poorly Brazil manages the cargo logistics: Why do we rely so much on trucks when we have one of the most amazing hydrographic basins in the world?

The busy Danube River.

So, going back to sunsets! It started with a warm orange color while the sun slowly melted on the horizon. The big ball of fire provided some nice reflctions on green waters of the river. The photos were taken from a view point on the 'green bridge', as I called it.

The Bridges

Being a city cut by a major river, Bratislava has a lot of bridges from where you can enjoy the landscapes and spot the famous touristic attractions. My favourite one was for sure the 'green bridge', from where I could see the UFO Tower & Bridge and the Bratislava castle, all in one.

The Bicycle

What if I could add the bicycle to the mix? I may have more pictures of my bicycle on cool places, than photos of my ugly face. Hello, Scott! What about a sponsorship?

The Castle

By the time I found a nice place to photograph the castle under the colors provided by the big star, the fire ball had long gone. But the light colors were still there, a mix of all sorts of shades. By the way, if you are curious to know, the sweet spot is just on top of the Michael's Gate, the last remaining gate from the original fortifications.

After celebrating the sun in Bratislava I prepared myself to hit the road again, the comfortable days were gone and soon I'd be bound to the mother nature's desires. Just to give you a glimpse, if you permit me, the following days were under severe snow and wind. Was it difficult? Yes! Would I do it again? Heck yeah. But for the full story you'll have to wait for the report. Best wishes, from somewhere on this world of ours.
