THE CAVES OF MOGAO

China is, and this is well known, a cradle of culture, religion, knowledge, ingenuity, and art. Not for nothing are references made to it in all the kinds of the manifestation or very artistic expressions. Among the most prominent of these sites are the Mogao caves. These are a set of 492 temples that are located near to the city of Dunhuang, which in turn is located in the beautiful and very popular province of Gansu. Another name they receive is
"the caves of the thousand Buddhas",
"the caves of Mogao" and
"the caves of Dunguang".
And they have the merit and the big honor of having been declared a World Heritage Site( WHS) in 1987, which only increases their paradisiacal status for the curious tourist.

From Buddha sculptures to landscape paintings and from ancient manuscripts to an architecture that escapes all current conventions.
