Travel Diaries # Kashmir - Heaven on Earth

Kashmir is one of the most beautiful destination of India and also a pride of India. It is also called the Switzerland of India because of the presence of the Ice clad majestic mountains in the region. Kashmir is one of the most resourceful state of India but sadly the geopolitical conditions of the place makes it a difficult place for tourist. It is a rich state in natural resources majorly famous for Saffron, Apples, Spices and much more.

We had a 10 days holiday and it was a wonderful experience. When we planned our trip we were contemplating because this is one place where you never know how unsafe it can get, but then we decided to take a chance as there was little bit of stability then and who knows the future.

Sharing some breathtaking views from our visit of the place with my family.

The Beautiful Tulip Garden is in Srinagar, this opens up only for a month in the year and we were lucky to be there at the same time.

This area is also a part of the Tulip Garden.

We visited Sonmarg, which was all Ice clad Mountains all around. It was freezing cold and Ice all around, both my boys were enjoying but I was a little down on that day so preferred sitting in the car only. Sonmarg was a passing destination and we still had many more places to visit so I thought I could may be enjoy the other places while going a bit slow on this one.

This is the beautiful valley of Pehalgam. In this place the 3 of us also went for a Horse ride. I am quite scared of these types of adventures but then I could not leave myself out alone in the place so had to join them.

Gulmarg is one of the Hill station in the place and temperature here is very low. There is a lot of snowfall in this place and it is famous for winter sports. For the first time we tried the snow bikes in Gulmarg.
You can see how this place is completely filled up with snow.

These sledges are made locally by the people with wooden planks, unique in their own way.

We completed our holiday with an overnight Boat House stay. The Room in the boat was very spacious which I was really not expecting and the local food served was yummy. Kashmiri food made with the local spices is very delicious.
The decor of the houseboat had a very traditional kashmiri look.

Kashmir is a very beautiful place, a once in a life time must visit places. But if you are planning a trip you definitely need to to fist check on the conditions in that place and then make your travel plans else it might get difficult moving out there. Most of it is also media hyped. When we had planned our travel there were some news of unrest but when we reached there it was all absolutely fine. Most of the time the media sabotages the place with their hyped up news and so is the condition in this place also. It's sad.

Hope you all enjoyed the trip to Kashmir.

Thank you for visiting my blog.
