Stop in the historic city Striy!

Hi friends! That's been a few months ago, when I went to the Carpathians. But again, I want to go back to this trip. There was a lot of interesting things I want to tell.

We traveled in the morning by electric train and the first stop was in the small historic city of Stryi!

The city is located in the southwestern part of the Lviv region, 67 kilometers from the regional center, in the Eastern European time zone between 23 and 24 meridians, on the left bank of the river of the same name in the lower part of the Stryisky-Syan Verkhovyna. The relief on the territory of the city is plain. The convenient location at the crossroads of international rail and road routes, as well as the proximity of the Morshyn, Truskavets and Slavsko resorts and the Carpathian recreation area, offers prospects for the development of the city as a trade and recreation and tourism center.

The first mention of the city dates back to 1385. Even then the city is referred to as the center of the parish. In 1431 the city receives Magdeburg Law. The significant growth of Striy occurred in the second half of the XVII century, contributed to the development of the city of the former Stryan chieftain, and later King of the Commonwealth Jan Sobieski. In those days, the city wore the title of "Free Royal City".

It was a great warm day of autumn. The courtyards sweep the streets and in the air smelled the fallen leaves! The small town lived its quiet life.
