Today i want to share some pictures of one of my favourite places in Brazil. The Aparados da Serra National Park is located in the south of Brazil and is the home of the biggest canyon in Brazil. I recommend to visit the place two times, once in winter and once in summer. During winter time it is good to stay in the city Cambará do Sul, state Rio Grande do Sul, which is on top of the plateau. But be prepared! Temperatures drop below zero in winter! It is one of the coldest places in Brazil. And in the summer time Praia Grande in Santa Catarina is perfect to do hiking inside the canyon.
I stayed at the Hotel Parador Casa Da Montanha, a perfect place for everybody who loves nature, silence and sitting around a fire.
The Serra Geral hosts the beautiful Brazilian pine tree which is unique in this region. The seeds are used in many local dishes. After a long hike at freezing temperatures get some mulled wine and cooked seeds, a perfect combination!
The canyon Itaimbezinho offers a stunning view and many waterfalls. The altitude is about 700m.
With the "bearded" pine trees and the dense vegetation the place looks like out of a fairytale.
