I asked the locals in Mikkeli what fun things I should try out around town and they all suggested walking on the lake.
Yes you definitely read that right, Walking on the lake.
But. How? How does this sentence even make sense.
So I took a visit to this 'lake', as it was a short cut route over to the Gigantic Hypermart, and there I realised what they meant...
look at that entire body of water
Check out my Dtube video here to see me walking on the lake!
So what is happening here is actually because the weather is so cold, everything froze over, and the accumulated snow over time blanketed the entire body of water, such that everyone is able to safely walk, ski, or glide across the 'lake'
I think that it is actually bigger than a lake, the entire patch of ice and snow actually stretches really really far, but I haven't walked all of it. There are actually ships/boats (which you can spot in my Dtube video) but they are unable to move in winter as everything is frozen. So they are just being docked there motionless now.
There is hardly anyone at any time, so we had the entire patch of ice and snow to ourselves, and it made for really nice photos! Please enjoy! :D
