The temple is estimated to be 5000 years old and is located in Mahabaleshwar-a beautiful hill station in Maharashtra. It is said that the origin of river Krishna is from this temple.Water from some perennial source inside the temple falls into a 'khund' or small pond in front of the temple, from the mouth(gomukh) of a stone cow statue. It then seeps underneath, flow through some channel and finally into river Krishna. If you listen carefully you can hear the gushing sound of water inside the temple.

The temple sanctum has a Shiva Linga(Representation of Lord Shiva which is worshiped in the temples) and there is a temple priest or 'poojari' who takes care of the temple. The temple though small, has many pillars with carvings on it and is an architectural beauty.

The atmoshphere here is so serene and peaceful. There were not many people because the temple was not much known at that time. But it was almost 2 years ago.
We visited the temple during December ie.winter season in India. The scene would be breath taking during monsoons with the river flowing full and the surrounding greenery.
Panchganga is another temple just nearby Krishnabai and is more famous.
Apart from ancient temples Mahabaleshwar is well known for its strawberry cultivation.
Hope you like this post.
