Klaipeda throughout its history has repeatedly changed its name. Many centuries ago in these places, the Teutonic knights founded a castle, which is called the Memel, called in German the river Neman. But next to the fortress is located the ancient settlement - the city of Memel (in its composition and entered the castle), after it was renamed Klaipeda. But "clumpy peda" translates from Lithuanian as "muddy track".

Today Klaipeda is the largest port and the 3rd city in Lithuania, and this town is located on the border of the Curonian lagoon and the Baltic sea. Klaipeda is the most Northern non-freezing port on the Baltic sea. The city itself was founded in August 1252.

The heart of the Old town of Klaipeda is the Theatre square with the beautiful building of the theatre, built in 1775, and a beautiful fountain Simon DACH. The fountain was built with donations collected by the residents of the city, and for the realization of the project invited the Berlin sculptor Arnold Kunne. There is a superstition that if you throw a coin into the water fountain, it will be necessarily a happy marriage.
