Going To The Top Of The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building - Highlights Of Traveling Japan

On our tour across Japan we were able to check out the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. The very first image is my favorite from the top of the tower. You can see the stunning green area, which is the Imperial Gardens.

The unique skyscraper is located in the Shinjuku district and the building is actually made up of three structures, each the size of a city block.

Architect Kenzo Tange is responsible for the design and it was finished in 1990. Most of the building was made with marble that was shipped all the way from Italy (so said our tour guide). It only costs the Japanese public roughly $1 billion USD. And they still haven't paid it off. . .

"It was the tallest building by roof height in Tokyo, at 242.9 meters [797 ft], until the Midtown Tower was completed in 2006." wikipedia
