I actually did a lot more in Hakone, Japan than just watch TV. But when I did check out the TV in our hotel room, I was happy to find some sumo wrestling on.
I had hoped to go see a match live and in person, but we had a lot planned on our Asia trip and it wasn't in the cards.
What I found on TV was pretty cool. Check this shot out. One massive dude literally throwing another massive dude.
The sumo wrestlers would scoop up water with this ladle and chuck the water in the air, in almost a war dance likeness.
Interesting fact:
Sumo (相撲 sumō) or sumo wrestling is a competitive full-contact wrestling sport where a rikishi (wrestler) attempts to force another wrestler out of a circular ring (dohyō) or into touching the ground with anything other than the soles of his feet. The characters 相撲 literally mean "striking one another".
