My traveling motto as of late has been to take great pictures of the places I visit instead of buying things from the destinations. I end up with all this stuff and need a place to put it. Pictures only take up room on my external hard drive.
It's just easier.
I did end up bringing a few things back from Japan, genuine chopsticks and a Star Wars furoshiki cloth.
I thought the blend of Star Wars and Japanese symbols was very unique. You can see Mount Fuji and the skyscrapers the Japanese are so proud of next to Darth Vader and the Empire.
Furoshiki cloth is a type of traditional Japanese wrapping cloth used to transport nicknacks and various items.
I'm just using mine as a tapestry. 😎
I picked up the Star Wars furoshiki cloth in Kamakura, which is a town about 31 miles south-west of Tokyo. We stopped in the town and did some exploring for about half a day. Here are a few pictures of where we did some shopping and grabbed some food.
Kamakura is known for its Sagami Bay, where the surfers go and the Great Buddha Statue (Daibutsu).
Anyone know what the Japanese symbols on the cloth mean? I did some googling, but came up dry.
Michelle and I took a month to travel across Japan and China this past May. It was epic! Follow me @slickwilly and Michelle @curiouser for posts about our adventures!
