Real Life Mario Karts Spotted On The Streets Of Japan.

When Michelle and I were walking around the streets of Tokyo, Japan earlier this year, we saw live action go karting.

The leader of go kart fleet stopped for a crowd to take pictures:

Interesting anecdote:

Our tour guide told us about how the go kart companies got threatened with lawsuits due to the costumes. Nintendo said it would be bad for their brand if one of the kart drivers dressed like Mario or Luigi got hit by a car. . .

You can still see people driving the go karts around Tokyo. And they still dress up. But you won't see Mario or Luigi costumes. Apparently other Nintendo characters are allowed as we saw a Donkey Kong costume.

Michelle and I took a month to travel across Japan and China this past May (2017). It was epic! Follow me, @slickwilly and Michelle, @curiouser for posts about our adventures!
