Viewing Mount Fuji From Ancient Castle Ruins - Highlights Of Traveling Japan

Seeing Mount Fuji was easily one of the highlights of our trip. For part of our Asia travels we joined a tour group with EF College Break. I will do a proper review post on the tour company soon, but for now all you need to know is that we had a pretty cool guide. His English was good and he knew all the cool places to go in Japan. One of which was these castle ruins near Komagatake where you could see Mount Fuji poking through the clouds.

We hiked up a short way to get to the castle ruins which now looks like a uniquely landscaped garden, although still very beautiful.

An ancient Japanese castle moat:

These moats were actually designed to slow the enemy down so they would be easier targets for their arrows.

A good friend from the trip brought his DJI Mavic drone and we flew it a bit at the ruins.

Watching him fly his drone really got me intrigued. Enough so that I finally bought a DJI Spark a few weeks ago. 😁

Michelle and I took a month to travel across Japan and China this past May (2017). It was epic! Follow me @slickwilly and Michelle @curiouser for posts about our adventures!
