Greetings Steemit Friends!
Summer has finally come out of hibernation and bestowed the northern hemisphere with it's long days and warm sun rays. For most of us, it's a saviour from accumulated seasonal affective disorder. For me, whether it's the brutal cold winters in Beijing, or the seemingly long dark cold and wet winters in UK, I am no outsider when it comes to my mood being influenced by the temperaments of winter climate.
As you know, my recent travels to Thailand and Koh Samui have been my first experience of warm tropical weather in what feels like half a year. When it comes to getting beach and tanning time, you don't have too many options other than travelling to exotic places such as Samui so I had to take advantage of the spectacular private beach facilities W Hotel has on offer.
So, without further ado, let's take a look at what you can expect from the beach resort of W Hotel. Does the beach ooze luxury and class like the rest of the hotel? Let's find out!
Let's Get WET!
W Hotel's private pool features it's signature W logo. An interesting design with three watchful eyes, like it is some All Seeing Eye altar. Built half way up a hill, the pool has incredible views of the Maenam beach area and so makes for a perfect area to soak up the sun, whilst feasting your eyes on some of the best views Samui has to offer.
Sticking with the W Hotel nomenclature, the pool's name is actually called Wet, no doubt inviting you to lunge into the pool and getting yourself wet!
Exclusive use of the pool by the W Hotel guests means that it's usually pretty empty. On my visit, there was actually no one else at the pool besides me!
I have a feeling i'm being watched.
My Trusty Flamingo
Actually this is not mine, the hotel has their own! I think it's exactly the same as mine which is still up in my own private pool!
Beach Time!
As mentioned earlier, the beach is used exclusively by the guests of W Hotel. Here you will find a plethora of W Hotel exclusive amenities such as their Japanese sushi bar, cocktail bar, lounges, and much more.
Nobu Japanese Restaurant
Behind this bamboo corridor leads to the Nobu Japanese Sushi Restaurant which serves some of the best sushi in Town. Being just a few steps away from the sea, you can expect to have some of the freshest sushi in the backdrop of paradise.
The Chess Courtyard
Why not test your chess strategies out in the open with guests all around comfortably sipping their drinks and soaking up the sun? Here, you can find a full Chess Board with pieces the size of small children. I never thought Chess could be played like this, but then I heard of something called Chess Boxing, alas that's a whole other story!
The W way, or no way!
Abseiling the W way. For those of you who are into a bit of climbing, why not traverse up this mini wall. If you look carefully, you can make out the W logo!
What's that net thing called which hangs between two trees?
A hammock!
What a way to relax, hanging in the shade beneath two trees, and swinging to the cool beach side breeze!
Green and Tranquil
W Hotel have cleverly intertwined their green colour theme all over the resort. Aside from the abundance of plants and other vegetation, they've provided these huge bean bags and sofa's all over the place. Once you lie on one of these bean bags, you will find it pleasantly difficult to get back up. So be it!
Let's not forget the Beach
With so many things on offer at the beachside resort, you might actually forget to enjoy the breathtaking private beach.
It's a rare opportunity to have a perfect beach retreat that isn't packed to the brim with people. The private beach stretches for around 2km. Across this stretch, you'll have no problems finding a spot to sunbathe or even take a dip in the mildly cool sea. Again, W Hotel has branded their private beach with their distinctive logo, this time in White.
Because the beach area occupies the very edge of a larger cuspate foreland formation, you'll be able to see both neighbouring bays from where the W logo is.
It's also a perfect opportunity to get out my drone and get some lovely shots from the sky with my drone!
Drones are allowed here, but the staff will give a warm reminder that the drone should not fly to the private villa's for privacy reasons. The last thing to be careful of is not to accidentally fly your drone too far into the ocean and lose it at sea!
W Retreat beachside resort a yes?
If you like a secluded and private beach area with excellent amenities, views, and quality beach facilities, then W Hotel's private beach is the place to be. A rating out of 5 would not do this place justice. So, let's just say you would definitely not be disappointed with a visit to this hotel and it's beach.

Hope you enjoyed my review, and stay tuned for more fun filled blogs from yours truly.
