Travelling!

Hi, dear steemians. As we are in holiday season, today's topic is travelling. Many of us usually prefer to go on holiday with package tours. To be honest, I find it really boring and I never do that. I think, when you are on holiday with a group of people, you are really limited. Today, I am going to tell you why I prefer to travel alone more than with friends.

I have been to lots of countries so far thanks to my Erasmus in Poland and volunteering experience in Slovenia. In most of my experiences, I have travelled alone or only with one friend. When you travel with lots of people, things are usually a bit more complicated. it is always hard to decide what to do as there are many different opinions. Brainstorming might sound good, but we shouldn't forget that it also creates lots of problems.

Fun

Some of you might think that it is really boring to travel alone, but I don't agree with that. When you travel on your own, you are never alone as you can meet many people on the way who can be eager to be your friends. Hostels and bars are the best places where you can find your travelling soul-mate. I usually have some locals drinks in traditional bars when I arrive at a new city and it usually helps me to find a local friend.

There are many applications which will surely help you to find new friends in each city that you visit. I have tried many of them. One of them is a site called couchsurfing. It helps you to find a host in the city that you are going to visit. I have done it many times and am going to talk about my experiences in my following posts with some nice photos.

Lithuania

Sky is the limit

When you travel alone, there is nothing that can limit your wishes. You can walk for hours and hours or get lost in the nature like I do many times. As you can see in the photo above, I am a big fan of nature. I used to cycle and walk in the forest a lot when I was travelling in Lithuania. Nobody could judge my decision or force me to do something else because I was the one who controlled myself!

When you alone on your journey, you also have very flexible plans. When you feel that you are not happy with the city that you stay, you can easily change it without asking anybody around you. When I was in Prague with my 5 friends, everybody was asking to do something else so we couldn't find a common point which wasn't really good for some of us.

Confidence

Travelling is not as easy as you might guess. Many people are afraid of taking a backpack and going on a journey that you can't see and predict what is going to happen, but this is the thing that makes it really worth doing. You will probably make some mistakes on your way. They will sometimes make you smile or cry. These are the experiences that remind us who we are

If you want to be courageous and confident person, you have to be initiative and take the step to go further in your life. Travelling will surely help you to build confidence in your character. You will learn to stand up when something bad happens to you. I remember the time that I lost my mobile phone in Lithuania while I was travelling. That was sad but I had to calm myself down to overcome that problem.
