The 3.6km long Nathan Road is the main road of Kowloon. There are countless shopping malls, hotels and restaurants in this area. Staying overnight in Hong Kong is extremely expensive, but if you are looking for a cheap accommodation in a fantastic location, I can recommend you the well-known notorious Chunking Mansions.
Die 3,6km lange Nathan Road ist die Hauptverkehrsader von Kowloon. Hier findet man unzählige Einkaufszentren, Hotels und Restaurants. Vor Allem das Übernachten ist in Hong Kong extrem teuer. Wer jedoch eine günstige Unterkunft in fantastischer Lage sucht, dem kann ich die berühmt berüchtigten Chunking Mansions empfehlen.
If you follow Nathan Road inland, you will reach Mongkok soon. This district is one of the most densely populated places in the world.
Folgt man der Nathan Road ins Landesinnere, erreicht man bald Mongkok. Dieses Stadtviertel gehört zu den dichtestbesiedelten Orten der Welt.
This part of the city is popular among tourists mainly because of its numerous street markets.
Bekannt und bei Touristen beliebt ist dieser Stadtteil vor Allem wegen seiner zahlreichen Straßenmärkte.
Mongkok offers a colourful mix of new and old buildings, here you can see a typical house facade.
Mongkok bietet einen bunten Mix aus neuen und alten Gebäuden, hier eine typische Hausfassade.
Victoria Harbour is one of the most beautiful and popular places in Hong Kong. Besides Victoria Peak, this is the best place to experience gorgeous sunsets and to enjoy the illuminated skyline at night.
Victoria Harbour ist einer der schönsten und beliebtesten Orte in ganz Hong Kong. Neben Victoria Peak ist das der beste Ort um traumhafte Sonnenuntergänge zu erleben und nachts die beleuchtete Skyline auf sich wirken zu lassen.
Despite the crowds of people, there is always a cosy place to relax. Since my accommodation was only a five minute walk away, no evening went by on which I didn't enjoy this magnificent view.
Trotz der Menschenmassen, findet man hier immer ein gemütliches Plätzchen zum Entspannen. Da meine Unterkunft nur fünf Minuten Fußweg entfernt war, verging kein Abend, an dem ich nicht diese großartige Aussicht genoss.
Following the coast in eastern direction, you will reach Kowloon Bay. There is also a beautiful promenade by the sea, but without crowds of tourists.
Folgt man der Küste Richtung Osten, erreicht man Kowloon Bay. Hier gibt es auch eine wunderschöne Promenade am Meer, allerdings ohne Touristenmassen.
Here is a typical view of the huge houses from below. In each of these buildings there are living thousands of people and each of them has its own small shopping mall on the ground floor.
Hier ein typischer Blick von unten auf die riesigen Wohnhäuser. In jedem, dieser Gebäude leben tausende Menschen und jedes davon hat seine eigene kleine Shoppingmall im Erdgeschoss.
If you want to escape the urban jungle, you don't have to travel far. Lantau Island is called the green lung of Hong Kong. Here, next to the international airport and Hong Kong Disneyland, there is a lot of untouched nature with beautiful hiking trails. The highlight of the island is the big Buddha statue, which can be reached by cable car.
Wer dem Großstadtdschungel entfliehen will, muss nicht weit reisen. Lantau Island wird als die grüne Lunge Hong Kongs bezeichnet. Hier befindet sich neben dem internationalen Flughafen und dem Hong Kong Disneyland, sehr viel unberührte Natur mit wunderschönen Wanderwegen. Das Highlight der Insel ist die große Buddha Statue, die per Seilbahn erreicht werden kann.
You have to climb 268 steps to visit the huge Tian Tan Buddha.
268 Stufen muss man erklimmen, wenn man den riesigen Tian Tan Buddha besuchen möchte.
The sky is mostly cloudy here, but you have a good view of Po Lin Monastery, which is located in very close proximity.
Der Himmel ist hier meist wolkenverhangen, aber man hat eine gute Aussicht auf das Po Lin Kloster, dass sich in unmittelbarer Nähe befindet.
You should explore the area of this worth seeing monastery in any case with a relaxing walk. This peaceful place offers a nice contrast to the hectic city center.
Das Gelände dieses sehenswerten Klosters solltet ihr auf jeden Fall bei einem gemütlichen Spaziergang erkunden. Dieser friedliche Ort bietet einen schönen Kontrast zur hektischen Innenstadt.
My five days in Hong Kong flew by and there would have been so many other interesting places to see. I definitely want to visit this great city again soon and hope I could inspire you with my two-part report to put this impressive metropolis onto your bucket list!
Meine fünf Tage in Hong Kong vergingen wie im Flug und es hätte noch so viele weitere, interessante Orte zu sehen gegeben. Ich will diese tolle Stadt auf jeden Fall bald wieder besuchen und hoffe ich konnte euch mit meinem zweiteiligen Bericht auch ein bisschen Lust darauf machen, diese beeindruckende Metropole auf eure Wunschliste zu setzten!
