During the last week, I visited Tuscana and Lazio region in Italy. Besides the beautiful landscape in Tuscana, I also visited a place is not very famous and only few tourists visit, but it is a fantastic place in my opinion. Absolutely deserved to visit!
Bomarzo, a village in Lazio at the foot of Mount Cimino, possesses a unique work, the Villa of MARVELS, also called the Sacred Wood or Park of Monsters. It was designed by Prince Vicino Prsini and the great architect Pirro Ligorio in 1552.
The park is unique, even if it belongs to the erudite architecturainaturalistic culture of the second half of the sixteenth century. Refined Italian style gardens follow geometric and perspective rationality, with embellishments.
The most famous thing of this garden is that is populated by grotesque sculptures and small buildings located among the natural vegetation.
