Hi Everybody!
Earlier this year, my girlfriend and I took a road trip around the Scottish Highlands. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing, so there was no plan involved. It was just a "pack up and go" approach. It may sound silly, but we like being spontaneous. We didn't have a big budget, so just had money for food, fuel and hotels. We found a great app called North Coast 500 which gives an interactive map, and also itineraries to suit if you have more time than we did. We took a lot of photos, and now I want to share some of the best ones. I am no professional photographer, but I do like taking pictures and I hope you like them. I have split these into parts as I don't want to bore you, I thought different sections of the trip would be better. Part 1 is the trip from Inverness to Thurso, traveling up the West side. So here are some of the pictures taken along the way...
On route to Inverness, we were really taken back by how much the landscape just changes. It really is beautiful, and was a welcome change to the concrete, city jungle we are so used to.
We loved the snow topped hills..
...and the weather wasn't brilliant, but it still looked lovely.
Inverness castle, built in 1836 by William Burn.
We love the view of the mountains in the distance
We also came across the Scottish Hydro Glascarnoch Dam too
and more along the road.....
Found a new friend too...
So that's part one. I hope you liked my pictures, even though I'm no pro. I'll be sorting out the rest of the pictures over the next couple of days. Thank you for reading, and again, hope you enjoyed them! Keep an eye out for the next post!
