The journey from Bangkok to the Island of Koh Pha Ngan continues, and hopefully you did not miss part one where we purchased our tickets, got rocked to sleep on the overnight train, and made some lovely new friends from Spain. We left off waking up the following morning and hearing the train announcement that it's our stop. Where are we and what do we do now? Let's get going and find out!
We arrive in Suratthani, mainland southern Thailand and we are about two hours by mini van to the port where we need to catch the ferry. As we depart from the train, we look around. We find a man wrangling foreigners asking for final destinations in English and checking tickets. I show him my ticket and tell him I'm going to Koh Pha Ngan. He directs me and several others to an office where we are instructed to wait for an hour. Me being steemit's "world-travel-pro" I decided to walk around and take real life photos and returned with plenty of time to spare. The mini van arrives and we hop in.
We are now on our way to the port. Lucky me, being just over 6 feet tall, I get the front seat with plenty of leg room. Two hours later we arrive. We all exit the van and head into the port's passenger lounge. We can see the ferry has just arrived and is letting off passengers who just came from the island.
We soon board the ferry. I get comfortable in the air conditioned seating area and get myself a can of coconut water from the ship's mini-store. We soon find ourselves in a conversation with Barry from England we befriend each other and actually learn that we planned on staying at the same resort! Here's a photo of him hanging out in the pool with our Israeli friends later that week.
We walk around the boat and get some nice photos including this one of us arriving at the Island of Koh Pha Nagn three hours later.
We soon arrive on the Island. There are tuk-tuks (out-fitted pick-up trucks with benches) waiting to take us to our resort, Coral Bungalows. Along with Barry we arrive there safe and sound and get situated in our room before jumping in the pool for a swim. The next few weeks spent in Ko Pha Nagn were incredible and well documented in my blog if you'd like to learn more about it.
