Travel Pro Adventure #20: Swimming with Sea Turtles in Mancora Peru! Part One (25 photos, 1 video)

Hey there my Steemit friends! In this short two part adventure post I had the pleasure of swimming with the sea turtles in Mancora Peru! My day started off at the hotel having breakfast. I had no plans to really do anything this day other than walk around the town and Steemit!

Suddenly this lovely girl from Chile with sleepy eyes came into the dining area, all the tables were full so she asked if she could sit with me; of course I said yes. We got to talking and right away I learned that her name was Daniella! My name is Daniel. So we kind of hit it off immediately.

She too was traveling solo and only had a couple more days left in Mancora. She was heading north and I was heading south. Often you meet people when traveling and are never to be seen again. Well, that is exactly what happened in this situation.

However she explained how she booked a tour "Swimming with Sea Turtles" the night before. She had to eat breakfast and get to the shuttle bus soon. After talking for a bit, she invited me to come along assuming there was room. Doing tours alone can sometimes be a bit of drag, as it's always more fun to share the experience with a friend.

Daniel being a really friendly and sweet girl I seized the opportunity. I packed by bag; including sunscreen and a towel and for only twenty dollars we were off to turtle town together! The tour included the ride to the dock, the boat to swim with the turtles, an hour stop over at another beach, and being dropped off back at our hotel.

We left at 9 am and returned around 2:30. It was a perfect half day tour as it left us time to find a place to have diner together. Here are the photos and a video of the first half of our day!

I just had to use this for my cover photo!

Daniella and I when we arrived at the turtle beach.

This is the van we took.

This is the area leading up to the dock to get on the boat.

Beautiful beach! Beautiful day!

Getting on board!

Some fishing vessels!

That doesn't look like a bad place to call home.

They've got a private yacht!

We show up to the turtle swimming area, other tour boats are already in the area.

The turtles don't mind being around the people, as long as there are pieces of fish to eat!

We all jump in!

Swimming with the turtles was a lot of fun. They are very gentle and don't mind being pet and touched. There were at least a half a dozen turtles around us and on more than one occasion you would bump into them as they would come up from behind looking for the next piece of fish to eat. It was an incredible day! Great memories were made! Thanks for coming along! -Dan "World Travel Pro!"
