Glamping @ Tiarasa Escapes || Camping In Style

One day you wake up and realise you have become a city girl. All that cycling around your small town for hours, swimming in rivers catching tadpoles, eating mangoes sitting high up on the tree branch seem to belong to a young girl from another time. Your heart yearns for that carefree, devil may care attitude that was second nature but the city has conditioned you to the convenience of modernity.

How do you mash them so they will flow with ease and not collide? You go Glamping! What is that you might ask? It is when you want to Camp In Style, a Glamour Camping experience hence the word Glamping. This apparently is very popular in Europe and has become something to experience here in Malaysia especially if you want to get away from the City of Kuala Lumpur for a couple of days.

So when my brother and his kids came for a short visit, we packed our bags for a Nature Weekend with the family and checked in Tiarasa Escapes to just chill and spend quality time. The kids ranging from 15 months to 16 years old had a great time and so did my 80 year old dad. The setting brought on a bout of reminiscing of times gone by.

We booked two Tents side by side. Both had two rooms and a living room with a sofa bed. But we spent most of our time outside.

A tree trunk that had fallen over, placed across a tiny stream gave the boys some Indiana Jones playtime as they worked on their balancing skills.

On request, you can watch a movie under the stars just outside the restaurant or hang out by the Bonfire with Marshmallows.

We opted for the latter. They set it up in a big cauldron. Handed us the marshmallows and sticks and left us to bond with other guests. However, there was only one other family there as we had chosen to go on a weekday.

No bonfire is complete without the guitar. We sang Coldplay to Queen to a Birthday Song as the other family was there to celebrate one. They do say Music is a Universal language, and this got all of us sharing stories. We had so much fun singing, we continued even after the fire went out.

The next day, we requested Breakfast sent to our Tents as we went to bed very late. Delivered in this Tiffin carrier and Hand Woven Basket, it brought on the nostalgia.

The Breakfast Spread with Sausages, Scrambled Eggs and Baked Beans in the Tiffin.

Nasi Lemak (Bungkus), The Breakfast of Champions

We could have requested for the breakfast to be served outside.

Or perhaps, sitting on the grass by the stream..

After breakfast, the younger kids hung out in the wading pool.

And the older kids chose to walk upstream for more Indiana Jones moments.

They walked for an hour or so.

Climbed rocks, slipped, fell into the water.

Then came running back because a leech latched on. We didn't have salt on us which always did the trick when I was a kid, so we used tobacco. Then we gently pulled it out. The boy was initially nervous, but once it came off, he couldn't stop talking about it... with excitement. The boys who didn't wear shirts were also attacked by mosquitos. So, be prepared for both for that walk upstream.

After lunch, I took a stroll to take some pictures while the kids went back for another dip in the wading pool.

The tents have nets for walls. And for privacy, curtains. So you could sleep with the curtains drawn and feel like you are sleeping in the open.

Except with very nice, comfortable beds.

And very nice toilets too. Some Tents even have bathtubs the size of a jacuzzi.

You can choose to stay in the Tree House.

Have your tea while listening to nature harmonise.

An afternoon siesta in a hammock.

Just in case you were thinking, where's the fun in that? You would rather be as close to "camping" as possible, then you can choose to sleep here by the stream.

Periuk Kera (Pitcher Plant) which can be used to cook Lemang (Glutinous Rice)

And it is an award winning resort.

As much as we wanted to stay one more night, it was time to leave. The kids begged to stay longer and we requested for a late checkout. Dad couldn't resist climbing a tree thought it scared us. He wanted his Insta shot and took a lot of pride in still being able to climb a tree.

It's a place that's great for special occasions and a get away from the city. They cater for Weddings and Team Building sessions too. The luxury does come with a price but our stay was complimentary and we loved every second of it. And I mean it and not saying this because it was complimentary. We loved everything about it, crickets, leeches and all.
