Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
Today, I would like to take you to one of the most beautiful Czech town, the town of Mikulov.
Located in the Southern Moravian Region of the country, very close to the Czech-Austrian border, Mikulov is a little town with some 7,400 inhabitants.

Founded as early as at the beginning of the 12th century, Mikulov has a long history and numerous historic landmarks. Dominated by the majestic Mikulov Castle, the town boasts many interesting pieces of architecture dating back to different eras and styles.

Mikulov is also known as the center of the most important wine-making region of the country.
Except for the vineyards, however, the town is also surrounded by breathtaking nature as it is located at the border of several renowned natural areas and reserves such as the Mikulov Highlands, the Moravian Karst, the Palava Reserve and the picturesque valley of the River Thaya.
