I would like to welcome everyone to another day of the #botanicalgardentours. Today is #treetuesday so it will be the Tsuga Canadensis, also known as the Hemlock or Canadian Hemlock.
Ich möchte euch alle herzlich auf einen weiteren Tag mit den #botanicalgardentours einladen. Heute ist #treetuesday also wird es der Tsuga Canadensis, der auch als Kanadische Hemlocktanne bekannt ist.
The Tsuga Canadensis is native to nort-eastern parts of North America. The tree can reach a high up to 30 m, 50 m in exceptional cases, with a stem diameter of 2 m. The tree is hardy and threfore green during the whole year. It can even get at least as old as 600 years, while it first blossoms after 40 years. The needles are dark green and tightly ordered in an alternate fashion. They are approximately 2 cm long and 2 mm broad. The Hemlock prefers a water enriched soil and its wood is a relatively soft one.
Der Tsuga Canadensis ist im Nordosten Nordamerikas beheimatet. Der Baum kann eine Höhe von bis zu 30 m erreichen, in Ausnahmefällen 50 m, bei einem Stammdurchmesser von 2 m. Der Baum ist winterhart und daher das ganze Jahr über grün. Es kann sogar mindestens 600 Jahre alt werden, und blüht nach 40 Jahren zum ersten Mal. Die Nadeln sind dunkelgrün und abwechselnd und dicht angeordnet. Sie sind ca. 2 cm lang und 2 mm breit. Die Hemlock bevorzugt einen mit Wasser angereicherten Boden und sein Holz ist relativ weich.
