On August 26, 2017 at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, U.S. the "Money Fight" took place. Floyd Mayweather won via TKO in the 10th round. The event was one of the most profitable events in sports history. So it should go to no surprise that a second fight may take place.
Shortly after the first fight, rumors start to circulate in the fight community ... will there be a second fight .. will it be in a boxing ring .. will it be in the UFC's Octagon ? Well it looks like the cat is out of the bag.
A second "Money Fight" is getting closer and closer to reality and this time its in the Octagon with special rules and those rules just happen to be leaked. Here they are :
• 5 Five-Minute Rounds
• 4 Ounce Gloves
• No shoes
• Lightweight (155 lbs)
• no elbows
• no takedowns
• no kicks
• no knees
Looking at these rules, we are basically getting a dirty boxing match inside the Octagon. While the rules purposed does give Conor a greater chance in winning then a pure boxing match would, they still favor the boxer greatly. The rules also give Floyd Mayweather much better odds to win in the Octagon vs Conor as apposed to having a Pure MMA match would.
That brings us to the question, who will win in the Octagon with the purposed rules ? I believe that with the purposed rules and the fight being in the Octagon that this fight is anyone's fight to win. We have to remember that Floyd is a slow starter and with only 5 rounds compared to 12 he don't have the comfort of not worrying about losing the first round or two. Losing a round in MMA has a greater significant's on the outcome of the fight then it does in boxing.
If we were talking a pure MMA match, Floyd would have very little chance of making it out of the first round. Floyd and his team are too smart to agree to a pure MMA fight that almost without doubt ends in a loss for him.
Here is what Joe Rogan ( UFC Commentary ) has to say about the situation:
Who wins in the Octagon with the modified rules proposed ?
