Project Details

OroCRM is an Open-Source Customer Relationship Management Software.

OroCRM allows you to create a 360° view of your customers across multiple channels, organize the sales pipeline, manage account and contact information, communicate with customers, run marketing campaigns and track campaign performance.

Contribution Specifications

OroCRM is currently being translated into more than 35 languages, I contributed to making the OroCRM project accessible to Colombia's Spanish speaking community online.

I was assigned to translate this project into Spanish (Colombia). There is also the Spanish (General) section on the project's Crowdin, along with Spanish (Argentina) and Spanish (Mexico).

Translation Overview

This project's niche has to do with e-commerce.

Since the OroCRM platform works with Magento, which is an e-commerce platform that provides online merchants with multiple tools for the functionality of their online store, a lot of the project's words are short and simple and have to do with online buying and selling:

e.g. shopping cart, customer address, order items, checkouts, etc.

I was assigned to translate the subfolder: messages.en.yml, located in folder: OroMagentoBundle as is shown in the following image:

Here on the second part of my contribution to the OroCRM project I was able to further learn about E-commerce related words and terminology I didn't know anything about; one of those concepts that I learned was credit memo:

A form or letter sent by a seller to a buyer, stating that a certain amount has been credited to the buyer's account.
A credit memo is issued in various situations to correct a mistake, such as when (1) an invoice amount is overstated, (2) correct discount rate is not applied, (3) goods spoil within guaranty period, or (4) they do not meet the buyer's specifications and are returned. Also called credit note.

Languages

The project's source language is English and it was translated into Spanish (Colombia).

Besides collaborating on Open Source Projects on Crowdin I also work as a Freelance Translator for a law firm in the US, I've been working for that company for 6 months, translating sworn statements and legal documents from English to Spanish and viceversa.
