I want to thank @good-karma spear heading the esteem app which I have been using in the last 3 months ever since I joined steem it. I happened to see the app on google play, so I have been using the app as long as I have been on steemit. I love using this app when I am away from the computer as it has become very handy. Thank you.
Today, I saw a post from utopian-io saying that we can also contribute to esteem open source via the platform. This is great.
I want to report a 'bug' that I keep seeing on my esteem app but I have let it pass in the past 3 months but since I saw from the utopian page we can contribute to the esteem team, thus this post.
Regarding the Vote Tab Failing to Turn Blue
This is the Broadcast Error message I often see when I use the esteem app. This broadcast error message is probably correct in popping up regarding the votes, but I need to explain to you why I end up 'voting' again the second time to cause this error message to pop up.
Here is the screenshot of the error message from my mobile app:
It says: Broadcast Error - You have already 'voted in a similar way. This message is correct.
It is 'the 're-voting' that is triggering this message to pop up.
In the following 2 examples, I want to show you why I have voted in a similar way. The reason is that the 'voting' tab failed to turn blue and thus 'revoting'.
Example 1:
Today, I saw this Steemfest post on my mobile app.
This is what I did:
a. I liked it and upvoted the post in the home page. Where you see it highlighted, it turned blue.
b. So I went on to read other posts. Then a few minutes later, I wanted to go back into the Steem fest post to make a comment, so I tabbed on that post again from the homepage.
c. And when I went inside the post, I saw that the 'voting' tab there is not 'blue'. Take a look at the screenshot.
d. So I thought maybe it did not register the vote that I previously did a few minutes ago.
e. I then tabbed the voting at the bottom of the post to make it turn blue, and the error message pops up saying that I have voted already (which is true) but because it did not look 'blue' to me on my app, so I tabbed on it again.
The Error message is correct so I am suspecting whether there is some "bug" in the "voting" tab.
f. I went to my computer to check to see if it got upvoted, and yes the blue vote is there.
This is where I have spotted the Bug:
-- the voting tab turned blue when I upvoted it from the home page the first time.
-- when a few minutes later I wanted to go back into the post to comment, inside the post, the voting did not register blue. (This is where I suspect the bug is)
-- as a user, I thought maybe my vote didn't get register earliers, so I tabbed again and obviously error message appears saying I have voted in a similar way.
-- the reason why I voted i a similar way is because the voting tab was grey and not blue.
Solving the Bug
Get the voting tab stay in blue in the home page as well as in the post once the 'voting has been done. For me, there is inconsistency in the showing of the voting color.
Example 2
- Today I saw this post:
- I went in to read this post and upvoted it, the voting tab turned blue.
I hit reply and put a comment. And then my submission was successful.
I scrolled back up earlier and noticed that my 'vote' turned back to grey for some reason.
I suspect there is a bug here.

- I went back out to the Trending home page to see whether the vote is 'blue' or not. Apparently, the vote had turned 'grey'. Here is the screen shot.
In the past, I would 'revote' again, but I know that Error Message would pop up saying that I have done similar action again.
I check my computer and lo and behold, it is 'blue' saying that I have voted but it didn't register on my esteem mobile at that time.
So I just want to report to the esteem team the above 2 examples of what I am experiencing as a user so that you might be able to spot where the bug might be. It seems that the 'blue' vote does not remain after it has been upvoted and as a user, I would re-upvote again, thus the broadcast message appears.
