Never have I imagined that I would be able to take my wife @mhel on a romantic dinner after a long time. It has been years since we went out for dinner. Times are tough and money was just enough to get by. We often do not have the luxury to go out and we usually just stay at home during Valentine's Day. This is a gift from the platform and from the community especially @bayanihan and @surpassinggoogle for the generous support which made this possible. Also to all the Steemians out there you know who you are. Thank you for giving us .............................
A Night of Romance Powered by Steem
Not only that we were able to get an overnight stay at the Bayleaf hotel in Intramuros. My wife called in for a reservation for two at the SkyDeck restaurant at the roof top of the hotel for a 6 pm dinner. It is crucial to get a reservation as the restaurant often gets fully booked and walk ins would have a hard time to get a table.
This is the way up to the penthouse on the roof deck where the restaurant Sky Deck is located. There was a couple ahead of us and asking for a table and my wife was correct they were fully booked for the night. Good thing she called in and we got our table with no problems at all.
The place had a very romantic vibe and it felt like we were college sweethearts again. On a date which I almost forgot how it felt like. I could feel my heart beat speed up a little faster due to my excitement. The lighted up Manila City Hall and the city lights gave a magical glow to light up our perfect night together.
The ambiance was relaxing and the view of the city was perfect to complete this romantic dinner. The sky was clear and air was cool there is no way it would rain to ruin this romantic dinner tonight.
Our waiter for the night offered us if we wanted the buffet or something from their menu. Somehow I felt that I was really not that hungry to go for the buffet and wanted to check the food on the buffet before we decided what to have for dinner. But before everything I requested for a candle light as it was getting dark and we will have trouble seeing our food. After a couple for minutes out came the paper bag with the candle inside and I think it was pretty cool as it gave a soft glow.
After asking for the candle the rest of the customers also requested for the candle and after a while all the tables had their candles lit up. There were also a lot of lovers this night all with their own stories to tell. I was talking with my wife about this dinner and we are afraid that we might get used to doing this. We have all the questions of what if's. What if this is the first and last dinner date? What if the time comes that this is no longer possible? I told her just not to think about it and just enjoy our night together. Told her that we would just keep doing what we are doing and life goes on. We just need to keep on Steeming, love life and love each other more.
After that conversation I scouted the buffet table to check if we would go for it or just order from their menu. They had Bagnet (crispy pork belly), Roast beef, salad and two other dishes which I didn't check what they were. After scouting we just decided to just order from the menu. We ordered Bagnet on Pinakbet(mixed vegetables with shrimp paste) and sizzling Bulalo Steak (Beef Shank).
While waiting for our order I had a quick look at the upper deck and found out that the view up there was better. Maybe next time if there is one we'll have a table reserved up here instead.
The make the mood more romantic they had live music while you dine and boy the singer was awesome. It felt that there was love everywhere up here like watching a romantic movie where I was the leading man and my leading woman just right beside me. This was indeed a magical evening.
Here comes our meal. Bagnet on Pinakbet and the serving was like for three people this is what my wife ordered and there was a lot which we did not expect. But it was really good crispy pork belly skin and vegetables at the bottom perfect combination.
Out comes my Bulalo Steak with bone marrow which is absolutely delicious. The meat also has been shredded on the side served on a hot cast iron pan. Again the serving was very generous and is absolutely worth it.
After finishing our meal I was stuffed and didn't know if I could still have some desert. My wife still ordered custard ensymada which tempted me to have a little.
Now guess who decided to crash our dinner date. @bearkid called and asked if she could come up the roof deck to have some desert too. Who could say no to that request? She ordered some churros which I didn't get a chance to snap a shot as it was gone that fast.
