In some parts of the country, food and other basic items are very expensive, or not available!
The Bolivar is the currency but it has been devalued and artificially manipulated so many times that it loses value rapidly. The government is fighting massive inflation of the currency, and the people are suffering.
Venezuela has about the same number of people as Canada - 32 million. Caracas is the capital city.
Many people in recent months have been living directly off the land. Entire families are moving into rural areas to camp and eat mangoes, coconuts, cactus, and many other native plants.
